Our mission is to create an agri-tourism experience that brings the Morris Ranch back to life. By sharing the ranch’s rich history, culture, and the land itself, we’ll help Texans connect with their roots and understand the deep ties that bind us to this special place.
LAND FRAGMENTATION
Land fragmentation is the shrinking of land parcels over time. It means that with each generation, the average size of land people own gets smaller and smaller. This trend is spreading across the Texas Hill Country and much of the state as our population and cities keep growing. We’re witnessing ranches become rural subdivisions and productive fields become backyards.
While the visual impact is obvious, the ecological and cultural consequences are even more worrisome. Land fragmentation strains our precious natural resources like water, harms the soil’s productivity, and contributes to climate change.
EFFECTS OF LAND FRAGMENTATION
Land fragmentation doesn’t just break up the land; it fractures communities. Traditional skills and trades, once vital for working the land and shaping rural culture, are fading away. As land is divided and sold, long-established populations dwindle, and the daily activities that define a community’s unique identity are lost.
We are deeply concerned about the negative impacts of land fragmentation. We believe in the value of large land holdings and aim to demonstrate that diverse agriculture can be profitable. Our mission is to show that responsible land stewardship can create a sustainable future for both the land and its people.
